Assembly

Posted in News by pmacaione | No Comments

Reminder that assemblies will now take place on a Friday

afternoon commencing at 2:15pm from week 1 in Term 2.

Dear Parents,

We have had a number of phone calls regarding the correct dates for the Easter school holidays. As  you may be aware the State Government made some changes late last year to school holidays which meant that schools will now have a 2 week holiday at Easter. The magnetic school calendars that where printed had been done well in advance of any date changes and therefore still show the old dates. Please note the following changes to the school holidays for 2012.

Easter holidays:- Saturday 31 March – Sunday 15 April. The students will return to school on Monday 16 April, there is no longer a pupil free day on this day.

The Pupil free day to begin third term which is 9 July is no longer allocated students will commence third term on this date.

The pupil free day for 22 October is still valid.

There is also a change to the Exhibition holiday, the only day allocated now is the Wednesday 15 August. The schools holiday for the 16 August has now been absorbed into the Easter break.

The new Queens birthday public holiday for October which is 1 October, falls in the school holidays.

Regards,

Stephen Locke

cyberCybersafety Parent Sessions

On Monday 5th March the school has engaged guest speaker to present to students from Years 4

to 7 informative and valuable sessions on Cybersafety. In addition there will be a presentation to

all teachers at an after school meeting and we are providing the opportunity for parents to

participate in a choice of TWO sessions in the new hall – one being held from 1:30pm to 3:00pm

and the other in the evening from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.

This is a most important topic for our students who are participating actively in online learning

activities and school and at home. Many also participate in social networking and online gaming

activities at home. As teachers and parents we are duty bound to help children learn how to keep

themselves safe online and so we strongly encourage you to make the time to come along to one of

the sessions even if your child is in the lower primary grades.

Mr Brett Lee (not the cricketer) comes to us with an impressive resume having among other

things served in Iraq, worked with the FBI and worked as an undercover online detective. I can

assure you all that you will walk away from Brett’s presentation feeling well informed and wellarmed

to cope with and to help your children with the challenges that an online environment

presents.
